Honda has announced its unveiling of the Class 8 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck concept at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Las Vegas. The truck has been equipped with three new Honda fuel cell systems manufactured in collaboration with General Motors (GM). These fuel cells are anticipated to enhance performance, durability, and cost efficiency significantly. The vehicle will showcase a top speed of 70mph and is capable of carrying 82kg of hydrogen at 700bar. Featuring 240kW combined fuel cell systems and a 120kW high voltage battery, the truck represents Honda's commitment to sustainable transportation. Ryan Harty, Assistant Vice-President of Sustainability & Business Development at American Honda Motor Co., expressed the importance of fuel cells in replacing existing diesel applications in commercial vehicles like Class 8 trucks. Honda aims to collaborate with businesses and customers to introduce hydrogen fuel cell solutions in North America as part of its broader hydrogen business strategy. Moreover, Honda recently revealed the CR-V e:FCEV, a plug-in hydrogen vehicle with a remarkable range of 270 miles. This new vehicle is set to be the first production hydrogen vehicle in the US. The company's initiatives align with its global goal of achieving zero environmental impact. Through partnerships and collaborations, Honda seeks to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen technology in the transportation sector, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
