  • The festival's goal is to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, contributing to making it the most sustainable in the country.
GeoPura introduced their hydrogen-powered generators (HPUs) at the 2024 Isle of Wight Festival, replacing traditional diesel fuel power for the first time at the event. The HPUs supported crew and artist catering along with part of the guest village, offering benefits such as zero emissions, reduced noise, versatility for heating, hot water, and fast EV charging, and reliable uninterrupted power supply. Plans are underway for a new electricity substation near the site to enhance emission reduction by connecting to the grid. Caroline Giddings, Director of the Isle of Wight Festival, expressed the aim to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, with the initiative marking a step towards making the festival the most sustainable in the country. Andrew Cunningham, CEO of GeoPura, highlighted the positive impact on local air quality and overall guest experience. In addition to the festival, GeoPura previously provided HPUs at the UK Royal Air Force base in Leeming, North Yorkshire, ensuring stable electric power supply.
