Hyster's hydrogen fuel cell (HFC) ReachStacker has earned acclaim by winning the BIG Innovation Award in Spain. The ReachStacker is currently engaged in a pilot program at the Port of Valencia, setting a new standard for container handling equipment in Europe by utilizing hydrogen fuel cell technology. This zero-emission solution represents a significant step towards decarbonizing ports, offering benefits such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions, noise pollution, and operational costs compared to conventional diesel-powered machinery. The ReachStacker's hydrogen fuel cell engine efficiently converts hydrogen into electricity, providing a sustainable alternative to internal combustion engines. The on-board high-pressure hydrogen tanks enable quick refueling in 10-15 minutes, supporting up to 10 hours of continuous operation for intense duty cycles.
