Mission H24 recently revealed its latest hydrogen fuel cell car, the H24EVO, at the Le Mans 24 Hours event. This unveiling showcased a full-scale model of the car, demonstrating a significant leap in technology from Mission H24's past models like the LMP2HG and the H24. The H24EVO represents a major advancement in utilizing hydrogen as a viable fuel source in motorsport. The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has confirmed plans to introduce hydrogen-powered entries at Le Mans 24 Hours starting from 2027, with expectations of the H24EVO hitting the track as early as 2028. Jean-Michel Bouresche, the CEO of H24Project and co-president of MissionH24, aims for the H24EVO to become the first FIA homologated electric-hydrogen prototype with performance levels comparable to top GT3 cars. The car boasts impressive specifications with nearly doubled power output at 884PS and reduced weight at 1,300kg. Constructed on an ADESS monocoque chassis, it features two hydrogen tanks to power the fuel cell and a 400kW battery for the motor. Despite the current model being a scale version, the actual car is set to debut in early 2025. The H24EVO signifies a significant milestone for MissionH24's program as it progresses towards fielding a hydrogen-electric prototype capable of competing with traditional combustion-powered vehicles. With the technological advancements demonstrated by the H24EVO, the future of endurance racing appears promising and environmentally conscious.
