TotalEnergies and Air Products have formed a pivotal partnership to supply 70,000 tons of green hydrogen annually in Europe from 2030 onwards. This agreement follows TotalEnergies' tender to secure 500,000 tons of green hydrogen yearly to decarbonize its European refineries. Air Products will directly supply green hydrogen to TotalEnergies’ Northern European refineries, contributing to avoiding approximately 700,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The contract signifies a major step towards TotalEnergies' goal of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions from its oil and gas operations by 40% by 2030. Air Products, recognized for its leadership in hydrogen supply, has dedicated substantial investments towards large-scale low-carbon hydrogen projects globally. This collaboration also involves a Power Purchase Agreement for renewable power from a Texas solar project, showcasing the commitment to decarbonization efforts. TotalEnergies' strategy to shift towards green or low-carbon hydrogen in its refineries is estimated to result in a significant reduction of five million tons of CO2 emissions annually by 2030. The partnership highlights a shared vision for a sustainable energy future and underscores the commitment of both companies to drive the energy transition towards cleaner practices.
