ArcelorMittal Poland has announced plans to construct a hydrogen production plant for its Kraków branch, following the cessation of coal usage for coke production. The project, supported by Linde Gaz Polska with a total investment exceeding PLN 100m, aims to provide a consistent hydrogen supply to ArcelorMittal's galvanising plants. By 2026, the smelter in Kraków is expected to be equipped to utilize hydrogen, enhancing operational sustainability and safety by eliminating ammonia from processes. The company's focus on hydrogen is evident in its ongoing efforts to transition operations and decarbonize activities. With substantial investments amounting to almost PLN 2.5bn in Kraków's steel facilities, ArcelorMittal intends to bolster sustainability and efficiency.
