US-based Utility Global and South Korea's Hanwha Corporation have initiated a Pre-FEED study to explore the feasibility of a hydrogen production plant utilizing biogas from South Korean wastewater treatment plants. If successful, the H2Gen system by Utility Global will be deployed at these plants. The hydrogen produced from biogas will be integrated into South Korea's hydrogen-powered mobility sector and other clean energy applications. The CEO of Utility Global, Parker Meeks, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting its importance in expanding the global reach of the H2Gen system and supporting clean hydrogen production. Dr. Vladimir Novak, the Chief Commercial Officer of the company, emphasized plans for geographical expansion across the US, Asia, and Europe to provide cost-effective and clean hydrogen solutions for various energy applications. The study aims to gather crucial data on design parameters, process configurations, capital requirements, project duration, and economic analysis. This information will assist Hanwha in making strategic decisions regarding the implementation of the system. Additionally, Utility Global recently announced the successful operation of its H2Gen system at a significant steel plant in North America, where hydrogen was produced using steel plant off-gas, demonstrating further advancements in sustainable hydrogen production.
