Emirates SkyCargo Introduces Hydrogen-Powered Trucks for Sustainable Ground Operations
Key Ideas
  • Emirates SkyCargo partners with Allied Transport Company to integrate hydrogen-powered trucks into its fleet by Q1 2026.
  • The deployment of five hydrogen-powered trucks is expected to reduce CO2 emissions and improve air quality for ground operations.
  • The trucks, with a range of up to 700 kms per tank, maintain the cargo capacity of 28 tonnes and will be refuelled at dedicated stations in Dubai.
Emirates SkyCargo, in collaboration with Allied Transport Company, is set to introduce hydrogen-powered trucks into its trucking fleet by the first quarter of 2026. This initiative is a part of the airline's commitment to enhancing fuel efficiency in ground operations. The current fleet of over 60 trucks that operate between Dubai World Central (DWC) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) will see the inclusion of five hydrogen trucks, representing a significant step towards transitioning to alternative fuel vehicles. With a focus on sustainability, the introduction of these trucks aims to lower CO2 emissions while maintaining operational efficiency. The hydrogen trucks, similar to their diesel counterparts, have the capacity to carry up to 28 tonnes of cargo without compromising on load capacity. These trucks will be refuelled at specially designated hydrogen fueling stations at Expo City and the Al Qudra Dewa station in Dubai. With a range of 700 kms per tank, these trucks ensure smooth and environmentally friendly transport for Emirates SkyCargo's customers. Additionally, the trucks are designed as tractor units, compatible with various trailers, enabling the airline to cater to a wide range of cargo requirements while reducing its ecological impact.
