Eni and the UK Government's Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) have successfully reached financial close for the Liverpool Bay CCS project, where Eni will operate the CO2 transport and storage system of the HyNet industrial Cluster. This milestone allows the project to progress to the construction phase, unlocking investments in the local supply chain and generating approximately 2,000 jobs during construction. The UK government's commitment to CCS is evident through a significant funding allocation of £21.7 billion for the first two CCS Clusters. Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, highlights the importance of this investment in creating a clean energy industry, fostering skilled jobs, and revitalizing industrial communities. Eni's CEO, Claudio Descalzi, emphasizes the strategic partnership with the UK government, positioning the UK as a leader in CCS development.
