Porto do Açu, a subsidiary of Prumo Logística in Rio de Janeiro, has joined forces with Norwegian company Fuella to establish a low-carbon hydrogen hub. The hub, licensed by the Rio de Janeiro Government, will focus on renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production connected to ammonia and methanol units. Fuella has secured a substantial area within the hub for their inaugural Brazilian project, with plans to develop a green ammonia plant generating 400,000 tons annually, utilizing water electrolysis. The cooperation also includes the construction of a 520 MW green ammonia plant, aiming to export or use the product domestically. Fuella anticipates making a final investment decision in the next four years, with green ammonia deliveries set to commence by 2030, marking a significant step in their global expansion.
