Torghatten Nord and green hydrogen producer GreenH have entered into a 15-year hydrogen supply agreement for the Lofoten ferries that will be in effect from 2025 to 2040. This partnership aims to revolutionize ferry operations on the Bodø-Moskenes-Værøy-Røst route by transitioning to green hydrogen as the primary fuel source. The collaboration between the two entities is based on trust and innovation to pave the way for a sustainable future in maritime transport. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration estimates a substantial annual reduction of 26,500 tons of CO2 emissions, a milestone achievement in the quest for cleaner transportation solutions. GreenH's envisioned hydrogen production facility in Bodø, with a significant investment of NOK 1 billion, is set to become one of the largest in Europe. This facility not only promises to supply hydrogen to the ferries but also offers employment prospects and economic benefits for the city.
