The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of Hong Kong and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Development and Application of Hydrogen Energy in Hong Kong. This partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between the two entities to promote the development and application of hydrogen energy in the region. The MOU covers technical exchanges, experience sharing, and capacity building in the hydrogen energy industry. The agreement includes plans for Sinopec Corp to establish a green hydrogen production facility at a restored landfill in Hong Kong. This facility will serve as a demonstration project and will supply locally produced hydrogen to support broader applications of hydrogen energy in Hong Kong. Additionally, Sinopec Corp will assist the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in promoting public awareness and education on hydrogen energy.
