The Hon'ble Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy & Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Shri Pralhad Joshi, visited Greenko's Integrated Renewable Energy Project in Pinnapuram, Andhra Pradesh. The project, described as the world's first and largest gigawatt-scale integrated renewable energy project, combines 4,000 MW of solar generation, 1,000 MW of wind capacity, and 1,680 MW of pumped hydropower storage, providing round-the-clock, carbon-free energy. The project's daily storage capacity of 10,080 MWh enables dispatchable power supporting industries like green steel, aluminum, and hydrogen production. The visit highlighted the project's role in advancing India's energy independence and sustainability objectives, with a focus on reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Beyond emissions reduction, the project addresses renewable energy's intermittency issue by integrating large-scale storage with generation assets. The Pinnapuram facility aims to deliver reliable, clean electricity on demand, aligning with India's energy policies. The project's Intelligent Renewable Energy Cloud Storage Platform supports real-time energy balancing and contributes to global decarbonization efforts by enabling low-cost green molecules production for international markets. The total investment of USD 4.2 billion emphasizes India's clean energy innovation leadership.
