India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is spearheading the country's transition towards renewable energy and sustainability. By January 2025, India has achieved a non-fossil fuel energy capacity of 217.62 GW, with significant contributions from initiatives like the CCDC Wind Initiative and the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The CCDC Wind Initiative, launched in 2020, has led to the development of over 10 GW of new wind energy capacity from 2020-2024, with India's cumulative wind power capacity standing at 48.16 GW by January 2025. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in 2023, aims to position India as a global leader in green hydrogen production with investments exceeding ₹8 lakh crore. This initiative focuses on developing indigenous technology for green hydrogen production and infrastructure, with a goal to reach 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen capacity by 2030. Other schemes like the National Solar Mission, PM-KUSUM, and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana are also driving solar energy adoption among farmers and households. Overall, India's commitment to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions is highlighted through substantial funding, policy support, and technological advancements, paving the way for a cleaner and more resilient energy future.
