Calgary-based Innova Cleantech has secured seed funding to accelerate its innovative work in sustainable graphite and hydrogen production. The investment, led by Weave VC and supported by super angels from Creative Destruction Lab, aims to propel Innova's methane pyrolysis technology towards commercialization. This technology addresses the global challenge of cleaner graphite supply, currently reliant on environmentally harmful methods and primarily sourced from China. Innova's approach offers a low-emission, locally sourced synthetic graphite solution to meet the projected increase in demand by 2050. The company's proprietary technology operates at low temperatures, reducing energy consumption while producing high-value synthetic graphite and clean hydrogen. Innova stands at the intersection of industry trends like decarbonization, mineral on-shoring, electrification, and hydrogen production. By commissioning a pilot facility in Alberta to validate graphite production, the company aims for growth through strategic partnerships and plans for a large-scale facility by 2025 to tap into the billion-dollar graphite market and hydrogen sales, targeting $100 million in annual revenue.
