Rajasthan, known for its tourist attractions, is now aiming to diversify its economy and become a renewable energy powerhouse. Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma plans to double the state's GDP and reach a $350bn economy. The state offers potential in sectors like solar and wind energy, agro-processing, textiles, and sustainable tourism. It is the leading producer of onshore crude oil and various agricultural products. Rajasthan plans to boost its renewable energy capacity significantly to 115GW by 2031/32, requiring a $64bn investment, creating opportunities in the sector. It boasts the world's largest solar park in Jodhpur, high solar radiation levels, and abundant land for renewable energy projects. The state also excels in solar generation and has potential in green hydrogen production. Rajasthan is actively encouraging innovation with projects like medtech and fintech parks, leveraging its top educational institutions to nurture a skilled workforce and industry-academia collaboration. The state is attracting investment through the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme, focusing on green growth and new emerging sectors like aerospace, defence, semiconductors, and waste recycling.
