By leveraging Smoltek's nanostructure technology and Heraeus' expertise in catalyst formulations, the aim is to significantly reduce the iridium content in PEM electrolyzers, thereby lowering production costs and resource usage.
The innovative approach involves combining a porous transport layer that acts as both an electrode and a catalytic carrier, coated with ultra-thin iridium and platinum layers.
