- This move signifies a substantial leap for India's green hydrogen goals, underscoring the country's commitment to renewable energy and sustainable practices.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has taken a crucial step towards promoting green hydrogen production in India by opening the first envelope of its Request for Selection (RfS) under the SIGHT Scheme. This initiative, known as Mode-1-Tranche-II, has garnered significant attention from major companies in the industry, indicating a growing interest in green hydrogen production within the country. The proposed production capacity under Bucket-I is substantial, amounting to 620,000 metric tons annually, with key players such as Reliance Green Hydrogen and Avaada GreenH2 leading the bids with a capacity of 90,000 MT each per year. Additionally, companies like ReNew E-Fuels and Ocior Energy have also shown involvement in this phase, proposing capacities of 55,000 MT and 20,500 MT, respectively. On the other hand, Bucket-II focuses on smaller capacities, with ChemSepT Engineering and Nishal Enterprises submitting bids for 4,000 MT and 1,000 MT, respectively. This development highlights India's commitment to green hydrogen and renewable energy transition, showcasing a strategic move towards sustainable production practices and reducing carbon footprint in the long run.
