TotalEnergies and Air Liquide have partnered to develop projects in the Netherlands aimed at producing green hydrogen to decarbonize TotalEnergies' European refineries. One project involves the construction of a 250 MW electrolyzer near the Zeeland refinery, with an expected annual production of 30,000 tons of green hydrogen. This initiative will cut CO2 emissions by up to 300,000 tons a year. Another project includes a tolling agreement for the production of 15,000 tons per year of green hydrogen for TotalEnergies' platform in Antwerp. By leveraging renewable electricity from offshore wind projects, TotalEnergies aims to significantly reduce CO2 emissions at its refineries. The collaboration with Air Liquide signifies a crucial step in TotalEnergies' commitment to decarbonization, with plans to reduce around three million tons of CO2 emissions annually by 2030. Both companies highlight the importance of these projects in reducing emissions in challenging sectors like industry and heavy mobility, paving the way for a more sustainable energy future in Europe.
