Sanoat Energetika Guruhi (Saneg), a major private oil and gas company in Uzbekistan, has partnered with Air Products to produce industrial hydrogen at the Ferghana Oil Refinery. The refinery, a vital player accounting for a significant portion of the country's oil and gas reserves, is undergoing modernization to expand output and aid in the government's energy diversification efforts. The transfer of hydrogen-related assets to Air Products for $140 million is expected to facilitate broader commercial utilization of hydrogen within Uzbekistan. Saneg's founder, Bakhtiyor Fazilov, highlighted the importance of this agreement in advancing the long-term modernization plans for the refinery and contributing to Uzbekistan's energy security objectives. Air Products' Chairman, President, and CEO, Seifi Ghasemi, emphasized their position as a global hydrogen leader, expressing confidence in their ability to enhance the refinery's capabilities and thereby support the growth of the oil and gas sector in Central Asia.
