The Integrated Transport Centre in Abu Dhabi has introduced the 'Green Bus' service as part of its commitment to transforming public transport into a green zone by 2030. Launched on September 12, the service operates on Route 65, connecting Marina Mall with Shams Boutik on Al Reem Island. The buses are powered by clean hydrogen and electric energy. This initiative is part of the broader Green Bus Programme, focusing on integrating advanced hydrogen and electric technologies into Abu Dhabi's public transport network. The programme includes specialized training in hydrogen and electric bus technology for bus operators, drivers, and technicians, with practical training opportunities offered in South Korea and China. The assessment phase for the programme began in November 2023 and will conclude in June of the following year. Abu Dhabi Mobility aims to transition from diesel to renewable energy sources, anticipating a significant reduction of over 100,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually in Abu Dhabi. By evaluating the performance of the new buses and establishing support facilities, the programme aims to ensure optimal operation and contribute to environmental stewardship. This initiative highlights Abu Dhabi's dedication to sustainability and enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.
