The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) recently held a hydrogen conference with the theme 'Towards a Circular Hydrogen Economy: Current Status in Realization and Opportunities.' The event, funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund, aimed to address the industry demand for hydrogen energy applications. Experts, including distinguished speakers from mainland China and abroad, gathered to discuss the crucial role of hydrogen energy in sustainable development and climate change mitigation. President Prof Alan LAU Kin-tak highlighted the importance of hydrogen in the energy transformation, emphasizing sustainability and resource efficiency. The conference also marked the launch of the 'Hydrogen Energy Education and Talent Development Centre,' funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund. This center, set to open in August, will feature exhibitions and interactive learning facilities to enhance public understanding of hydrogen energy and attract young talent to the field. Esteemed experts delivered keynote speeches, promoting local hydrogen research and applications. The event received support from various organizations, and a technical tour is scheduled for participants to observe industrial hydrogen energy equipment operation.
