Honeywell has introduced Honeywell Protonium™, a suite of technologies driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) aimed at revolutionizing the production of green hydrogen to be more efficient, cost-effective, and scalable. Aternium, a US-based clean hydrogen producer, will be the first to utilize these technologies at its planned Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2), selected for an award by the US Department of Energy. Honeywell Protonium™ addresses critical challenges in green hydrogen production such as power intermittency, carbon intensity reduction, and high costs, by integrating predictive control algorithms to improve electrolysis efficiency and plant operations. This initiative is projected to help industries meet rising energy demands and diversify energy sources sustainably. The Honeywell Protonium™ portfolio includes innovative offerings like Concept Design Optimizer, Hydrogen Electrolyser Control System, and Hydrogen Unified Control and Optimizer, each serving distinct purposes to optimize plant design, enhance electrolyzer performance, and streamline energy management. These technologies aim to reduce emissions, lower costs, and enable industries to enhance sustainability.
