The Finance Ministry of South Korea has chosen Gyeongju, a city in the southeastern part of the country, as the location for a significant project involving the construction of a hydrogen fuel cell power plant worth $552.8 million. This project, which is the fourth to be supported by a government-led fund, aims to boost and invigorate the economies of less-developed regions. The plant, with a capacity of 107.9 megawatts, is designed to generate electricity to sustain 270,000 households throughout the year. Construction is planned to commence in March, with an operational target set for March 2028. The ministry anticipates that the power plant will not only provide a reliable power source to nearby industrial zones but also spur growth in associated industries, thereby contributing to the overall economic activity in the area.
