HHLA, a major player in port logistics, has introduced a pioneering hydrogen test field and refuelling station at the Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT) in the Port of Hamburg. This development marks a significant step towards decarbonising logistics operations, particularly in the heavy goods vehicle sector. The inauguration event, attended by key figures like Angela Titzrath and Dr. Melanie Leonhard, emphasizes the importance of hydrogen in driving sustainable solutions within the industry. The partnership with Clean Port & Logistics cluster showcases a collaborative effort to explore climate-friendly transport alternatives, with a focus on hydrogen-powered equipment. The newly established infrastructure allows for the efficient refuelling of various heavy-duty vehicles, including forklift trucks and tractor units, with green hydrogen at 350 bar pressure. This initiative not only benefits HHLA's operations but also provides an opportunity for other companies to test eco-friendly transport solutions. Supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, the project received substantial funding to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen technologies in logistics.
