Solaris Bus & Coach has commenced the delivery of the first batch of 37 hydrogen buses as part of a larger order of 137 hydrogen buses for Bologna and Ferrara in Italy. This initiative is a result of an agreement with transport operator TPER, aiming to enhance sustainable public transport in the Emilia-Romagna region. The co-financing of this investment through EU funds from the PNRR plan and TPER's own resources highlights a collaborative effort towards greener transportation solutions. The CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach, Javier Iriarte, expressed optimism about the positive environmental impacts of introducing Urbino 12 hydrogen buses, focusing on improving air quality and the well-being of residents. This milestone delivery signifies progress towards a more eco-friendly and efficient public transport system. Moreover, the increasing interest in hydrogen technology in Europe is evidenced by the growing adoption of zero-emission transport solutions. Solaris has already delivered a substantial number of hydrogen buses to various European cities, with more orders in the pipeline, showcasing a shift towards sustainable mobility on a broader scale.
