Hydrogen solutions provider Plug Power Inc and South Korean EV firm Edison Motors have joined forces to develop a hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric city bus. Edison Motors, known for its electric car manufacturing in Seoul, is set to manufacture the 'SMART 110F' buses using Plug Power's 125kW ProGen fuel cell engine. The partnership aims to have a prototype ready by the second half of 2022 and a mass-market platform launched by the first half of 2023. Plug Power's CEO highlighted the goal of expanding globally to boost the Asian hydrogen and fuel cell market, foreseeing significant growth potential. Edison Motors' Chairman expressed optimism about future collaborations, including plans for hydrogen-powered vehicles like trucks and drones, not only in Korea but also in international markets. This initiative signifies a positive step towards sustainable mobility and environmental conservation, with both companies positioning themselves for a broader impact in the electric vehicle industry and beyond.
