Air Liquide Invests in Low-Carbon Hydrogen Supply Chain for Seine Axis Mobility
Key Ideas
- Air Liquide plans to invest 50 million euros in a new hydrogen packaging and delivery supply chain in the Normandy industrial basin to support low-carbon mobility along the Seine Axis.
- The investment will focus on supplying renewable hydrogen for hydrogen vehicles, including taxis, corporate fleets, buses, and trucks, to decarbonize transportation in the region.
- The project aims to contribute to the decarbonization of industry and mobility in Normandy and Ile-de-France by leveraging the capacities of the Air Liquide Normand’Hy electrolyzer, currently under construction.
- Air Liquide's commitment to the low-carbon society is reinforced by this investment, which is seen as a concrete and decisive step towards promoting sustainable transportation in the Seine Axis area.
Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services, announced an investment of 50 million euros in developing a low-carbon hydrogen ecosystem in the Normandy industrial basin. The investment will establish a new hydrogen packaging and delivery supply chain to refueling stations along the Seine Axis, with a focus on supporting low-carbon mobility. The hydrogen will be sourced from the Air Liquide Normand’Hy electrolyzer, which is currently being constructed with a capacity of 200 MW. This initiative is geared towards decarbonizing industry and mobility in the Normandy and Ile-de-France regions. The supply chain will cater to the increasing number of hydrogen vehicles in the area, including hydrogen taxis, corporate fleets, buses, and trucks. Air Liquide plans to dedicate a significant portion of the electrolyzer's production capacity to supplying renewable hydrogen for decarbonized transportation, equivalent to serving 500 hydrogen trucks or 10,000 light vehicles. The company aims to foster ecosystems that contribute to the energy transition and reaffirms its commitment to a low-carbon society. Emilie Mouren-Renouard, a member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee, highlighted the importance of this investment in promoting low-carbon transportation and positioning the company in the renewable and low-carbon hydrogen value chain.
