Air Liquide has announced an investment of €50m in its 200MW Normand'hy green hydrogen project in France to strengthen the offtake from the plant. The company will be developing a new hydrogen packaging and delivery supply chain to cater to refuelling stations along a key French transport corridor. This initiative is set to be supplied by the Normand'hy electrolyser plant, currently under construction, and will support hydrogen-powered vehicles along the Seine Axis. The goal is to meet the hydrogen fuel demands of various vehicles, including taxis, utility vehicles, buses, and trucks by leaning on long-term supply contracts with partners like HysetCo. A notable aspect is that 25% of the plant's hydrogen output will be allocated to refuelling demand, benefiting approximately 500 trucks. The remaining 75% will serve industrial customers in Normandy, including TotalEnergies. The plant, utilizing PEM electrolyser technology from Air Liquide's joint venture with Siemens Energy, is expected to be operational by 2025. This investment is regarded as a significant step towards advancing low-carbon transportation in the region, emphasizing sustainable practices and long-term supply partnerships. The initiative showcases Air Liquide's commitment to promoting green energy and supporting the transition to hydrogen-powered transportation solutions in France.
