AM Green Ammonia B.V. has announced the Final Investment Decision for its green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, signaling the start of an ambitious plan to produce 5 million tons per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia by 2030. The project includes the establishment of a green hydrogen generation unit and its conversion into green ammonia, integrated into the infrastructure of a urea plant acquired earlier. The company has secured 1,300 MW of carbon-free power through solar, wind hybrid capacity, and pumped storage power, with a focus on meeting the energy needs sustainably and adhering to EU RFNBO norms. Majority of the green ammonia production is planned for European markets to address the rising demand for green hydrogen applications. AM Green is dedicated to decarbonizing industries through the provision of low-cost green molecules and derivatives. The company's Founder highlighted the significance of this project in facilitating the transition towards carbon-free energy solutions globally, emphasizing the role in decarbonizing various sectors such as refineries, shipping, and power generation.
