The Calgary region has launched the Calgary Region Hydrogen Hub (CRH2) to drive innovation and economic growth in the clean hydrogen sector. As major economies prioritize low-carbon industries, hydrogen is expected to play a significant role in the future economy. CRH2 aims to capitalize on Calgary's skilled workforce, innovation ecosystem, and strategic location to position the region as a leader in the global hydrogen market. By facilitating collaboration between existing hydrogen producers and potential consumers, CRH2 seeks to create a sustainable hydrogen economy. The initiative focuses on key sectors such as airports, industrial fleets, and power generation to drive private-sector project development and create over 100 skilled jobs. The launch of CRH2 follows two years of coordination with various partners and aligns with national and regional hydrogen strategies. The initiative is supported by government funding and contributes to Calgary's climate strategy, emphasizing emission reduction and the transition to a low-carbon future.
