The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) and HTEC have joined forces to enhance hydrogen infrastructure in Western Canada. CIB's investment of $337 million will catalyze HTEC's operations in British Columbia and Alberta, establishing a hydrogen production and refueling network. The initiative, known as H2 Gateway, focuses on building sustainable fuel supply chains to reduce emissions in the transportation sector. HTEC plans to construct 20 hydrogen refueling stations across provinces, supported by new production facilities. This development is predicted to generate over 280 jobs and significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions annually. The project also targets the deployment of heavy-duty vehicles with hydrogen fuel cell technology, offering a cleaner solution for commercial trucking. Through this collaboration, CIB emphasizes the potential of hydrogen as a long-distance, fast-refueling option for greener transportation.
