SMEDA, in partnership with TAFE NSW, has launched a specialized training program focused on green hydrogen and renewable energy. The initiative targets SMEs and start-ups, aiming to provide them with the necessary skills to enter the renewable energy industry and drive company growth. The five-week program will delve into various topics such as climate change, biomass, and electric vehicles. Additionally, workshops covering business development, business matching, and global operations are planned, with participation from both international and local experts. Oman's ambitious goal is to achieve an annual production rate of 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030, positioning itself as a significant player in the sector. The country aims to become the sixth-largest exporter in the field, with estimated annual revenues of $2 billion from exports and domestic consumption by 2030. Long-term forecasts even suggest that these revenues could escalate to double-digit billion-dollar levels. Furthermore, Oman's National Strategy for the Orderly Transition to Net Zero is set to drive economic growth, with plans to contribute an additional 50% to the GDP by 2050. This growth will be primarily fueled by domestic investments in hydrogen infrastructure and the expansion of green power capacity. Interested applicants can apply for the training program through SMEDA's website until June 13, 2024, with the training sessions scheduled to run from June 23 to July 24, 2024.
