Investments in modern energy solutions like renewable hydrogen production, rooftop solar panels, and electric vehicles are driving this shift. President von der Leyen and Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simon, stress the importance of clean energy infrastructure investments to achieve climate goals. The EU plans to invest €584 billion by 2030 to meet rising electricity demand and establish a sustainable hydrogen system. The EU's energy infrastructure policy aims to facilitate faster approval processes and financing for key projects across Europe and neighboring countries. Priority corridors and thematic areas have been identified for project development, focusing on electricity, offshore grids, and hydrogen infrastructure. Selected projects can apply for 'Project of Common Interest' or 'Project of Mutual Interest' status, benefiting from streamlined processes, increased visibility, and potential CEF funding. The ongoing call for applications allows promoters to submit proposals for consideration.
