Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar unveiled the state's ambitious Industrial Policy 2025-30 at the Global Investors' Meet, targeting a whopping ₹7.5 lakh crore in investments and the creation of 20 lakh jobs in the coming five years. The policy aims to position Karnataka as a leader in emerging sectors while also focusing on balanced regional development. It introduces three investment zones to decentralize industrial growth, offering special incentives for underdeveloped regions and industries with a higher female workforce. Notably, the policy identifies key sectors such as green hydrogen, aerospace, electronics, and biotechnology, stressing sustainability and support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The government plans to enhance ease of doing business through initiatives like the revamped Single Window Clearance System and support for MSMEs, particularly those led by SC/ST entrepreneurs. Additionally, the policy highlights innovation and workforce development through projects like KWIN City and industry-academia collaborations to nurture a future-ready workforce. Minister MB Patil underscored the policy's role in ensuring sustainability, regional balance, and empowering MSMEs, envisioning Karnataka's continued industrial growth and economic prosperity.
