Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has announced a significant investment of up to £100 million in Aegis Energy to finance the development of multi-energy recharging and refuelling sites for commercial vehicles in the UK. This marks Quinbrook's first venture into sustainable transport, expanding its existing portfolio of energy transition investments worldwide. Aegis Energy's network of hubs is designed to cater to the evolving needs of truck and van operators adopting cleaner fuels like electric, HVO, hydrogen, and bio-CNG. The investment comes in response to the UK's Zero Emission Vehicle mandate and the increasing pressure to decarbonise transport, with specific sales bans on non-zero emission vans and trucks in the coming years. By establishing this infrastructure, Aegis Energy aims to facilitate the deployment of low and zero-emission vehicles, contributing to the country's clean energy transition. The company plans to construct an initial five-station network by 2027, with the first station set to open in early 2026. These hubs are expected to significantly reduce carbon equivalent emissions, benefitting the environment and helping fleet operators meet regulatory requirements. Aegis Energy's vision includes expanding to around 30 hubs by the end of the decade, creating a robust network to support sustainable transportation in the UK.
