Tata Motors has launched the first-ever trials of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in India, marking a significant step towards sustainable and zero-emission transportation. The trial, spanning up to 24 months, will involve the deployment of 16 advanced hydrogen-powered vehicles on key freight routes in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and others. These trucks are equipped with innovative Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engines (H2-ICE) and Fuel Cell (H2-FCEV) technologies, offering an operational range of 300-500 km. The initiative has received praise from government officials, including Nitin Gadkari and Pralhad Joshi, who recognize the potential of hydrogen in reducing emissions and enhancing energy self-reliance. Tata Motors aims to pioneer the transition to clean, zero-emission energy for long-haul transportation, aligning with India's goal of achieving energy independence and contributing to global climate targets. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has awarded Tata Motors the tender for the trial run under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. These hydrogen-powered vehicles not only prioritize sustainability and efficiency but also focus on driver comfort, safety, and productivity, setting new standards in the trucking industry.
