Malaysia's state-owned utility giant, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), has significantly increased its capital expenditure to RM42.9 billion to expedite infrastructure development in line with the country's energy transition objectives. A substantial portion of this budget will be dedicated to upgrading infrastructure supporting renewable energy, the National Energy Transition Roadmap, and regional interconnection projects. TNB's President and CEO, Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, emphasized the company's commitment to decarbonisation by investing in large-scale solar projects, battery energy storage systems, corporate renewable schemes, community-based renewables, green hydrogen, carbon capture, electric mobility, and smart grid interconnections.
