With a strategic opportunity to utilize its gas infrastructure for hydrogen production, the UK aims to lead in this sector and create high-skilled job opportunities. The Rough gas storage facility and Easington gas processing terminal are being repurposed to accommodate hydrogen storage, with Rough set to become one of the largest methane and hydrogen storage facilities globally. This transformation is expected to strengthen the UK's energy security, provide flexibility for decarbonized power systems, and generate around 4,000 skilled jobs in the process.
