The Jordanian Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, has approved legislation related to the energy sector as part of the Economic Modernization Vision. The measures include enhancing public services, developing the agricultural sector, and supporting national exports. Additionally, the Cabinet has given the green light to the first phase of structuring a public transportation network between governorate centers and Amman. This initiative, with an estimated cost of JD 4.5 million, focuses on high-demand routes and aims to improve transportation services with modernized buses equipped with electronic tracking and fare systems. The draft Electricity Law for 2025, endorsed by the Cabinet, seeks to replace the temporary law with a permanent framework to promote competition and attract investment in the electricity sector. It also includes provisions to support green hydrogen projects and enhance energy security. Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the draft Gas Law for 2025 to diversify energy sources and promote investment in the gas and green hydrogen sectors. The Cabinet also endorsed an action plan for the National Strategy for Future Stations 2025, aiming to provide digital services across the Kingdom. Other initiatives approved include the National Strategy for Adapting the Health Sector to Climate Change, agreements to strengthen the agricultural sector and exports, and the establishment of a SCADA system for water supply in Ma'an Governorate in partnership with Japan. These decisions are geared towards modernizing infrastructure, promoting investment, and advancing various sectors in Jordan.
