ACWA Power, a Saudi company, and Hysata, an Australian electrolyzer firm, have formed a partnership to introduce commercial-scale demonstrations of Hysata's electrolysis technology in Saudi Arabia. This initiative is a crucial step towards promoting green hydrogen projects. The collaboration will benefit from ACWA Power's experience in executing large projects, including the NEOM green hydrogen project, anticipated to generate 600 tonnes of hydrogen daily by 2026. Hysata's CEO, Paul Barrett, highlighted the significance of green hydrogen for reducing emissions in heavy industry and developing new markets for sustainable products. He praised the Middle East's potential as a leader in green hydrogen due to its renewable capacity and supportive investment environment. This partnership was announced during ACWA Power's Innovation Days event in Riyadh, where several other agreements were unveiled with industry leaders like Saudi Aramco, Fraunhofer institutes, SEFE, and Snam, focusing on green energy innovations and research. Thomas Altmann, EVP of Innovation at ACWA Power, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainable energy solutions through collaborations in desalination, renewable energy, and green hydrogen. The collaborations with Fraunhofer institutes aim to advance clean energy technologies, benefiting the energy and water sectors in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, ACWA Power established partnerships with SEFE and Snam to explore green hydrogen supply opportunities, highlighting a growing international interest in sustainable energy solutions.
