ACWA Power, a leading developer, investor, and operator of infrastructure assets, is on track to finalize the first phase of their green hydrogen project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in Egypt by the fourth quarter of 2028. The CEO of ACWA Power Egypt, Hassan Amin, shared this update with Asharq Business. The project, initiated under an agreement inked in 2023, entails investments exceeding $4 billion and aims to produce 600,000 tons of green ammonia annually. There are ambitious plans for expansion, with a target of reaching 2 million tons post the initial phase. The plant is set to utilize renewable energy sourced from the East Nile feeding stations in Minya, located in Upper Egypt.
