His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has overseen the agreement for ADNOC to acquire a 35% equity stake in Exxon Mobil Corporation's proposed low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production facility in Baytown, Texas. The partnership aims to support both companies' net zero ambitions, accelerate the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors, and meet the increasing demand for low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia. The facility plans to convert U.S.-produced natural gas into virtually carbon-free hydrogen, with advanced carbon capture and storage technologies ensuring about 98% of CO2 is removed, ultimately boosting U.S. competitiveness and creating job opportunities. Expected to be the world's largest of its kind, the project anticipates producing up to 1 billion cubic feet daily of low-carbon hydrogen and over 1 million tons of low-carbon ammonia per year, with a final investment decision projected in 2025 and startup in 2029.
