Advancements in Green Hydrogen Production and Recycled PET Chip Manufacturing
Key Ideas
  • Misr Fertilizers Production Company in Egypt is completing projects to enhance green hydrogen production, factory operations, and urea production by 2027.
  • Selenis successfully produces recycled PET chips using terephthalic acid from a textile recycler in Virginia, aiming for sustainable product development.
  • The collaboration between Selenis and Circ® demonstrates promising results with comparable monomer quality to virgin materials, leading to future commercial success.
  • Selenis plans to expand the partnership with Circ® to support industrial production trials and contribute to a more sustainable textile industry.
Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) in Egypt is working on two significant projects to boost its green hydrogen production capabilities, factory operations, and urea production. They aim to complete these projects by the end of 2027. Concurrently, Selenis has achieved a milestone in recycled PET chip manufacturing by utilizing terephthalic acid from Circ®, a textile-to-textile recycler in Virginia. The PET chip production occurred at Selenis' pilot plant in San-Giorgio, Italy. These chips have been converted into DTY yarn, which will be instrumental in upcoming product launches by Circ®. Eduardo Santos, the Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, praised the performance of Circ's monomer synthesis, highlighting its quality and expressing confidence in future commercial endeavors. The collaboration aligns with Selenis's sustainability goals for the textile industry, with plans to further assist Circ® in their commercial production trials. This partnership signifies a step towards more sustainable manufacturing practices and product development in the textile sector.
