Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (QIMC) has released the results of a regional gravity survey conducted in Lachute, Quebec, as part of their Fall 2024 exploration campaign for the Ville Marie Clean Natural Renewable Hydrogen Project. Led by CEO John Karagiannidis, QIMC expresses enthusiasm for the new data, emphasizing its role in advancing clean energy and sustainable hydrogen development. The survey, conducted by INRS, focused on revealing essential geological insights, particularly concerning Archean geological formations like peridotites and iron formations, known to be critical sources of hydrogen. The survey data, visualized through a Bouguer anomaly map, showcased the gravity variations in the region, highlighting the importance of different Archean formations for hydrogen generation. Key discoveries from the survey include the identification of domains enriched with volcanic rocks relevant to hydrogen storage, as well as the unveiling of a newly discovered fault zone in Domain D, crucial for hydrogen formation and migration. Noteworthy findings also include high gravity values at specific locations, hinting at highly permeable zones potentially rich in hydrogen. Professor Marc Richer-Lafleche underlines the significance of these discoveries, pointing towards a promising future for clean energy extraction in the area. The results of this survey set the stage for further exploration and development in hydrogen extraction methods, positioning QIMC at the forefront of sustainable energy initiatives.
