AM Green Ammonia B.V., a venture of Greenko Group, has announced a major milestone with the final investment decision (FID) for its 1 million-tonne green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The FID represents a commitment of financial resources to move forward with the project, showcasing the company's dedication to carbon-free energy solutions meeting high standards like EU RFNBO norms. Anil Chalamalasetty, the founder of Greenko Group & AM Green, highlighted the significance of reaching this stage and emphasized the company's goal to decarbonize industries globally. The Kakinada project, with plans to produce 5 million tonnes per annum of green ammonia by 2030, is set to contribute significantly to green hydrogen production as well. With existing offtake agreements and a firm power generation strategy in place, AM Green is poised to start production in 2026 and supply the majority of its output to European markets. The company, backed by Gentari and GIC among its shareholders, is not only focusing on the Kakinada project but also eyeing expansion across India to meet its ambitious targets. This expansion aligns with both India's and Europe's green hydrogen goals, marking a positive step towards achieving net-zero targets.
