Amp Energy Australia has commenced the construction of the first stage of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in South Australia, a critical milestone in their mission to foster renewable energy. The project, forming part of a larger Renewable Energy Hub development in the Mid-North region, has secured financing from institutions like Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Westpac Institutional Bank. The hub will feature solar PV plants, BESS installations, and a hydrogen production facility, requiring a substantial AU$2 billion investment. Wärtsilä's Quantum High Energy storage technology will be deployed for the BESS, supporting grid stability and security with advanced features. The technology boasts higher energy density and compact solutions, with planned deployments in the UK and Australia, including the Eraring Power Station BESS project. This development signifies a positive step towards sustainable energy infrastructure and the energy transition in Australia.
