Bp and Iberdrola have together injected 900,000 euros into Castellón Green Hydrogen SL, a joint venture established for the development of a green hydrogen project in Castelló, Spain. This initiative is part of a strategic alliance to construct a 25 MW green hydrogen plant at the bp refinery, with an expected operational date in the second half of 2026. The endeavor, backed by 15 million euros from EU funds, aims to create 500 jobs and is the inaugural action of a larger 2 billion green hydrogen project. The project includes the use of regenerated water for operations and renewable electricity from Iberdrola to power the electrolyser, producing 2,800 tonnes of green hydrogen annually and reducing CO2 emissions significantly. This significant investment marks a milestone in the green hydrogen sector, signaling a transition towards sustainable energy and job creation in the region.
