The German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) and RP Global have initiated a collaborative effort to work on green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in Argentina as part of the International Hydrogen Ramp-Up Programme (H2Uppp). The partnership, launched at the Argentine-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce headquarters in Buenos Aires, aims to support the 'Gaucho Wind to Hydrogen & Green Ammonia' project in southern Argentina. This project plans to install 3 GW of electrolyzers powered by a 4.2 GW wind farm to produce green ammonia for export, primarily to the European market. The collaboration includes detailed analyses of the hydrogen production chain, biodiversity, water resources, and regulations in Argentina. Both countries, Argentina and Germany, view green hydrogen as essential for achieving their energy transitions and climate goals, with the project driving economic benefits through job creation, tax revenue generation, and business growth. RP Global emphasizes the importance of maintaining high environmental, social, and safety standards throughout the project, and they are committed to contributing to the development of clear regulations to support Argentina's renewable hydrogen future.
