Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen has signed an EPC contract with ENKA for the construction of a low carbon hydrogen production plant (HPP1) at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, UK. This project, supported by UK government funding, aims to be the first large-scale low carbon hydrogen initiative in the UK, situated within the HyNet Cluster. The plant is expected to have a production capacity of 350 MW and will be capable of capturing approximately 600,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to removing around 250,000 cars from the road annually. The CEO of EET Hydrogen, Joe Seifert, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with ENKA, highlighting the latter's extensive experience in delivering complex projects. The collaboration with ENKA is seen as a significant step towards EET Hydrogen's goal of developing 4 GW of low carbon hydrogen production to support industrial businesses in the North West of England in their decarbonisation efforts. ENKA, known for its expertise in engineering and construction, aims to contribute to advancing the UK's low carbon hydrogen industry and global decarbonisation endeavors through this project. The Member of the Executive Committee at ENKA, Hakan Kozan, emphasized the company's commitment to excellence and sustainability, reaffirming their dedication to supporting the HyNet Cluster's mission of reducing emissions and promoting sustainable economic growth. The HPP1 project is anticipated to be a crucial element in enhancing the UK's hydrogen industry and aligning with international efforts to combat climate change.
